When you reach the top, just flip the blade over so cutting edge is pointed towards the top of the leather strop. After adjusting it, pull towards the handle of the woodcarving knife sharpening.

HOW ABOUT POLISHING COMPOUND? You can use a strop without any compound applied to it if you need only to remove blemishes. But, if you need to razor-sharp your knives, a compound will help you do it quicker. The polishing compounds can have different colors (like green or gray), but this feature does not affect their properties in any way. They are all equally effective for sharpening, honing, and polishing all your knives and cutting tools.
